UN Special Consultative Status

CIFA is granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations, a formal recognition of our efforts in enhancing FAMILY WELL-BEING in Asia!

Organizational Structure

The CIFA Council is set up by the full members. It is the decision-making body of the consortium and exercises all the powers conferred by the Memorandum and Articles of Association. The Council consists of a number of councilors that is elected by the full members. The Council elects its own chairperson and deputy chairperson. It also establishes committees and appoints advisors/patron(s) where necessary.

CIFA has been inaugurated on 24 January 2008 and the Council has decided to set up committees to take forward the various aspects of work of CIFA,

Secretariat

The Consortium is supported by a secretariat that will provide administrative support to the Council and the chairpersons, as well as to maintain the information clearing house and develop/upkeep the CIFA website. Initially, the secretariat is based in the HKUFI.

General Meetings

The Company shall in each year hold a general meeting as its annual general meeting in addition to any other meetings in that year, and shall specify the meeting as such in the notices calling it; and not more than 15 months shall elapse between the date of one annual general meeting of the Company and that of the next.

Funding

As the Consortium is operated on a self-funding basis, sources of funding may include the following:-

1. Tertiary institutes / organizations involved in CIFA

2. Donation/sponsorship from charitable organizations/individuals/corporations

3. Membership fees

Income generating activities, research grants and government sponsorship for special activities relevant to work of CIFA may contribute to the income of the CIFA.
